Anxiety Attack – Third Incident
The third anxiety attack incident happened in my home country. The environment and reasons – as we will see – are again different the first and second anxiety attacks.
I was the first day of the weekend and I was still living at my parents’ house at the time. My parents decided to do some maintenance work that made a lot of noise. I was not feeling OK but there was nothing wrong with me. I was just going through a bad mood.
The continuous noise and my bad mood coupled to create a feeling of agitation and anger inside of me. I decided to go out for a drive. While driving I felt a little better, but my thoughts were still at home with all that noise. My breathing was not smooth and gradually my head was getting light. I decided then that I should head home and that the drive was doing any good any more. I started to realize that I might be getting another hit.
I got home and for sure the severe dizziness started and another episode took place. The new thing about this one is my realization that I must lock myself from sound and light. The less sound or light I get exposed to the more I am able to control my anxiety.
After this incident I started a whole new round of medical checkups. When the first incident happened I did a CTI scan, this time I did an MRI, then I check a neurologist, then I checked my ears.
There was nothing physical that the doctors could detect. After what the doctor told me during my training days regarding the pressure on my neck (mentioned in a previous post about my second incident), my second hint was with the doctor that checked my ears. Although he did not find anything but he told that I might be stressed which is causing an effect on my inner ear. When I first heard the word "stress" I totally dismissed it. But further analysis – as I mentioned in my earlier posts – made me think again and made come to rethink what I have been going through from the time around the first incident.
Another hint came from a cardiologist that I have visited who said that there was nothing wrong with me, but I need to exercise which I was doing nothing about at the time.
After few days I found myself taking the following decisions about the way I was running my life. I will describe the original state of those areas and then I will list my decisions.
The previous state:
1- Sleeping late
2- Breakfast was coffee and a cigarette
3- I took work extra serious
4- My weekends were totally free
5- No exercise
What I did was the following. The reader must remember that I still did not know that what I was going through was anxiety. The solutions that came to mind were more to strengthen my body and improve the quality of life that I was living.
I started trying to do the following:
1- Sleep Maximum by midnight
2- Make sure that I have a bite of something for breakfast.
3- I still took my work extra serious but I liked it.
4- I filled my weekends with work so as not to give a chance for my thoughts to play their games on me.
5- I still did not exercise.
Those changes gave a very good result, but the turnaround was after I realized that there could be something related to my ears, so I found another doctor to check that for me and when he made the check up and heard me, his solution was based on two things:
1- Exercises for the eyes and neck
2- Medication to relax my muscles. I told him that a feel a great deal of tension in my shoulders.
With the changes that I made on my life then and the exercises and medication, I was as good as new. It was a beautiful feeling.
The problem here is that no doctor guided to the realization that was going through anxiety attacks and therefore, advised to get a direct professional help on that front. I had to do all the realization myself.
This would last for about two years. The real change in my thought and my realization of anxiety happened when I got a panic attack at work some other call it a nervous breakdown.
